“Change happens not by hatred but by love. Change happens when you understand what you want to change so deeply that there is no reason to do anything but act in your own best interest.” – Geneen Roth, Women, Food, and God
I been on-again, off-again listening to the audiobook of Geneen Roth’s Women, Food, and God and when I heard her say the quote above, I literally stopped me dead in my tracks. I paused my mp3 player and re-played the phrase two more times. This is something that we so often forget . . . that, no amount of self-loathing or complaining will change your circumstances. Only love can do that . . . yes, many times we love ourselves so much that we indulge our desires for this dessert or that new dress. But, I’m finally realizing that self-love also means turning down my plate when I’ve had my fill of food or deciding that I have more than enough *things* and would be better off shopping in my own closet than hitting the mall.
As you look to make new changes in this new year, remember to love yourself along the way.
Here’s to self-love, ladies, and all of the wonderful changes it will bring!

Great Monday Morning Memo as usual. It has taken me most of my adult life to understand that the path to true change is paved with love and kindness. I have been my own worst abuser trying to create change in my life and character. Today when I want to change something about myself I consider the most loving way to implement a plan. Loving myself is a way of life, I make decisions based on what will help me grow towards my goals. Eating in balance, working smart, and playing hard are some of my goals I work at daily. Love is the way!
