I am about to admit something that could possibly cause me to be evicted from the fashion blogosphere: I hate high heels. Absolutely HATE them. As a little girl, I couldn’t wait to wear high heels. I used to practice in my mom’s in the hallway (you know you did, too) and was absolutely thrilled when, at 12 years old, I got my first pair of kitten heels of my very own. I was in love.
Fast forward 20 years. I now hate high heels. They just keep letting me down. I can’t tell you how many times I would slip them on with the best of intentions, only to end up hobbling home (if I can even make it home without taking them off first).
So now, if you ever see me wearing them, it’s usually for a very specific reason – like, my dress is too long and I didn’t have an opportunity to get it hemmed. Or, I’m going to an event where I know that I’m going to spend most of my time sitting. I just hate them. They hurt my feet. And I can’t be cute when I’m in pain.
That’s why I spend most of my time in flats. (Thank you, FLOTUS, for making flats chic again.) They sleek, pretty and COMFORTABLE.
