Monday Morning Memo – Rethinking “Wasted” Time

I was so delighted to discover this phrase . . . because lately it has been a struggle for me to find any time for myself. Working 12 to 14 hour days doesn’t allow for a lot of down time and, as a result, the little bit of free time I do have usually involves watching mindless television. These days it’s L.A. Hair, Toddlers & Tiaras, Tia and Tamera, Empire Girls and the ultimate reality tv wasteland, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. (Wow. That makes it sound like I watch a lot of television. But I really don’t . . . maybe 30 minutes here and there. *shrug*) Even though there are lots of reasons not to watch reality tv and probably lots more productive things I could be doing with my free time, I’ve decided that it’s oh-kay. I know it’s all fake. And I do recognize that, if I were younger and more impressionable, these shows would be more harmful than helpful. But you know what? I don’t care. I love it all. It entertains me. It helps me unwind. I don’t have to think too hard when I watch it and it is chock full of great hair, makeup, fashion and, yes, drama. *lol* So, even though it pains me that my actions are putting more money into Kim Kardashian’s wallet, I will continue to watch. It’s my guilty pleasure.
