“Until and unless you know that you are enough just the way you are, you will always be driven to look for more . . . . Until you wholeheartedly believe in your own worth, in spite of your accomplishments and possessions, there will be a void in your spirit.” – Iyanla Vanzant, Peace From Broken Pieces: How to Get Through What You’re Going Through
Welcome to the last quarter of 2012! Can you believe it? Me neither. Because so much of the last two months of the year are dedicated to others – whether throuh family gatherings or yearly acts of charity – let’s use this month to really reflect on where we are and who we are. Let’s also try to find ways to recognize and embrace our “enough-ness” . . . lest we seek fulfillment in things. As Victoria Moran has written, what you are looking for isn’t in the refrigerator or at the mall. It’s buried somewhere inside of us . . . and only we can bring it to life.
Have a great week, everyone!

How ironic . . . I was just thinking the other day that I need to take a few “selfish” days soon — days to think about where I’m headed, what I’m looking for, and what’s important in my life now. Yes, I call them “selfish” days, because I’ve been told I’m “selfish” when I don’t always immediately put everyone else’s wants before my own. It’s taken me a very long time to come to terms with that, but I now realize that by being “selfish” for a few days, I can better understand and serve others.
I’m so glad that this resonated for you . . . here is to some sacred selfishness!
