"It's not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It's necessary." - Mandy Hale

Hello Faithful Readers! (I call you this because if you are still checking my blog after several weeks - months!? - of infrequent updates, you are faithful and loyal indeed!) Part of the reason for my
laziness delinquency is the fact that I have been traveling like crazy for work. I am truly becoming an expert at navigating security check-points and learning how to live out of a suitcase. A huge part of both of these tasks is managing the 3-1-1 rule. You know, the rule that one passenger can only have a single one quart bag in his/her carry-on luggage containing liquids no larger than 3 ounces (well, actually it is 3.4 ounces).
If, like me, you are a person who hates to check luggage, it can be a real challenge to squeeze even your most basic toiletries into that stupid one quart bag. But it is absolutely necessary - good hygiene is non-negotiable! Now once you add in your beauty items...well, things take on a whole different dimension!
I used to be one of those people who abandoned the need to look good while traveling. But after having more than one encounter with Mr. Eligible and Mr. Superfine while in transit, I quickly learned that my tenet of style to "always [look] as if something important is going to happen to you that day" must still apply when I'm on the road!
With the help of a few sample sizes, drugstore travel bottles and *giggle* hotel freebies, I've managed to cobble together a pretty decent bag of travel liquids. Check it out!
Highlights include my regular Vaseline - both make-up removal and Vaseline Lip Therapy (hat tip to Sheila at Painted Ladies for introducing me to this product) and KISS New York Aqua BB Cream, a multi-function product (another hat tip, this time to Ashley at FabEllis for turning me onto this gem of a product).
Being the product junkie that I am, I have tons of free samples or "gifts with purchase" all around my apartment, such as the Lancôme Moisturizer and Jane Carter Leave-In Conditioner. Traveling offers the perfect opportunity to give these items a try. If I end up hating them, it is usually no big whoop - at least no one in my "regular" daily world had to see me looking crazy. At the same time, it allows me to give a test drive to new items and possible add them to my beauty arsenal. A win-win for all!
Are you a frequent traveler? What do YOU keep in your bag o' liquids?
"To me, healthy is beautiful. Doing yoga and getting that spark in your eyes--that's beauty. If we don't start understanding the word beauty in these terms, then we are missing the point completely." - Thandie Newton, actress

"The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you." - Coco Chanel As you can tell by the lack of posts, I've been somewhat out of the loop lately. "Real life" has been kicking me in the butt...and it's all I can do to keep up with the Monday Morning Memos. Right now I barely have my finger on the pulse of what is hot right now. For instance, except for Pantone's Color of the Year - radiant orchid, in case you didn't know - I have nary of clue of what colors are trending right now. That's why I found some solace in today's Monday Morning Memo, which comes from the uber-fabulous Coco Chanel. At the end of the day, what is "hot" or "on trend" doesn't matter at all. What you should wear is what looks best on YOU! Hope you're able to enjoy some of this warm weather that has finally made its way into the world!
